Our risk-free Prepaid Plans sometimes take the spotlight, but our 529 Savings Plan also shines! Know that we make it our priority to ensure the Florida 529 Savings Plan is the best choice to help you meet your college savings goals. Today, we are pleased to announce the following additional enhancements to the Florida 529 Savings Plan effective December 21, 2020.
- Addition of individual funds. A total of eight new individual fund options, offered by well-known companies such as Vanguard and BlackRock, are now available for investors that prefer to customize their portfolio. The new choices include unique options such as a Social Index Fund.
- Sunsetting of some individual funds. Three current individual fund options were discontinued and transitioned to a new option to provide the potential for lower volatility and enhanced returns. No action is required on your part if you were previously invested in these funds.
If you were invested in the Core Fixed Income Fund, you have automatically been moved to the Core Plus Fixed Income Fund. Assets previously held in U.S. Large Cap Value and U.S. Large Cap Growth have been moved to U.S. Large Cap Equity Index Fund. The Core Plus Fixed Income Fund option provides the ability for enhanced returns over the Core Fixed Income Option. The U.S. Large Cap Equity Index Fund will lower costs and is expected to reduce volatility.
- Enhancement of website experience. We have redesigned aspects of our website to better highlight available investment options and allow for easy comparisons.
If you would like to take advantage of our new options or make other changes to your investment options, you may reallocate existing funds up to twice per calendar year. For new contributions, you may select from any of the investment options (and this is not considered to be one of your two annual reallocations).

These changes are in addition to modifications we made last year, when we reduced fees by more than 70%, expanded our portfolio investment options and added well-known investment managers such as Vanguard.
