Prepaid Plan Open Enrollment Extended Until May 31, 2020

Raise your hand if you feel short on time lately, amid all this COVID-19 ‘new normal’! Whether it’s because you are juggling homeschool responsibilities with working from home, or working in an essential field like healthcare that is even busier than usual, it can just seem like the days run into each other – and that time gets away from you.

We get it. And so, we are giving you more time for at least one thing that we hope is on your to-do list: Save for college.

In a continued effort to help Florida families navigate the challenges of COVID-19, the Florida Prepaid College Board is extending Open Enrollment by four weeks, from April 30 until May 31, 2020.

Here’s how Board Chairman John D. Rood explained the decision: “During this challenging situation, we know that many families will need additional time to make their college savings decisions. We hope that the Open Enrollment extension and deferred payments will give families the flexibility they need.”

This announcement comes on the heels of Florida Prepaid’s recent decision to defer all plan payments until July 20, 2020, providing financial relief to new and current customers during this uncertain time.

Florida Prepaid is also waiving the $50 application fee through the end of Open Enrollment. Families who enroll on or before May 31, 2020 will lock in the lowest pricing in five years, so their college tuition is ready and waiting for them.

These are unprecedented times for our state. But at Florida Prepaid, we also know that the future remains bright for tomorrow’s college students.
