TALLAHASSEE, FL (May 1, 2014) –In celebration of National 529 College Savings Day (529 Day), on May 29th, the Florida Prepaid College Board is getting started early with a College Savings Kit giveaway for all new accounts opened in May and a 529 Day Sweepstakes awarding a $529 scholarship to 10 randomly chosen individuals.* Celebrated nationally and promoted by the College Savings Plan Network, 529 Day brings awareness to state 529 savings plans and the importance of saving for college.
Board Chairman Duane Ottenstroer said, “Though we believe in educating families year-round, 529 Day is a great initiative that allows college savings to take center stage for one special day. As part of this celebration, we are helping families take the important first step to saving now with the College Savings Kit and allowing 10 lucky individuals to jump-start their savings with the 529 Day Sweepstakes.”
All new Florida 529 Savings Plan accounts opened through May 31, 2014 will receive a College Savings Kit, complete with tools and gifts to help navigate the world of college savings. The College Savings Kit includes:
- College Savings Tip Card to help you learn more about how to save for college.
- Future College Grad Picture Frame reminding you of the great decision you made for the future college grad in your life you.
- Gift Certificate Forms to share with friends and family to encourage them to help you build college savings through more contributions instead of more toys.
- Contribution Forms so you can easily contribute any time.
- Other fun stuff – all to help remind you of the importance of saving for college.
The Florida Prepaid College Foundation is sponsoring the 529 Day Sweepstakes awarding 10 lucky winners a $529 Scholarship deposited into a Florida 529 Savings Plan account.
